Moving into Summer

And moving into Summerland!

From a yogic perspective, moving house can be viewed as more than just a physical transition, because relocation (whether home, job or otherwise) has the potential for deep transformation and personal growth.

I’ve lived in Kelowna for 33 years. Within that time, I have moved house many times and each move brought significant change.  Yes, the external environment was obviously different, but internal shifts also took place. I’m sure you can relate. Human beings are resilient, and moving house is a creative process that showcases our ability to adapt and adjust. Each move we make, we sift through our possessions, and it’s an opportunity to re-assess what has value and where our priorities lie. We might reflect back on that period in our lives and go forward with the wisdom of experience. We may have to say goodbye to friends, family or favourite haunts — but we take our cache of memories with us. Staying in the Okanagan means I can still travel to my loved ones with relative ease, which feels good. However, the distance from Kelowna feels like a space has been cleared for new experiences and possibilities to enter in. I am looking forward to creating a new sacred space, a sanctuary, that will facilitate the next stage of my own inner growth.
